Diaz Castro´s Stone Route shows the beautiful landscapes that served as inspiration for the poems of Xosé María Díaz Castro, imbued with the relationship between man and earth, through life´s vision of the village neighbours.

The route begins at O Vilariño, next to the house where the poet was born, walking among oaks, birches and chestnut trees you will reach the ancient stonemasons house, witnesses of one of the most representative professions of the place. The route goes through dirt roads where the different stone walls delimit in a landscape touched by the hand of men, drawing a mosaic of fields alternating with natural forests.

Through a variant you can reduce the distance to O Buriz and visit the petroglyph “O Agro das Calzadas”. The route also presents two derivations, one that takes us to the Riotorto cruise and the other one takes us to Porto Muiño where we can see the remains of a mill and an old laundry, where the poet, on his way to school, used to make a stop to talk to women who came there to wash their clothes, a place that is represented through the verses of the poem “Vísperas”.
